The lovely thing about the hornbeams in Chigwell Row Wood is that they are glorious at all times of the year. Currently, they all have a faint yellow haze about them, originally from their catkins, and then from their young leaves. Mainly the catkins, though

...and Oklahoma will be with me all day, thanks.

(Also, hornbeams! The trunks of which are not cylindrical! My father pointed that out. It's the only treesome fact I know...)
