Top "Owned but marked 'Unread' books on LibraryThing"

In this case owned and read, owned but not read, read but not owned. With appropriate comments.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell I can understand people's problems. I love this book, but it took me several goes to get into it, and I nearly gave up during the first hundred pages. I find Norell very irritating.
Anna Karenina
Crime and Punishment
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Wuthering Heights Well, partly read. Do not like.
The Silmarillion But only because I'd looked forward to it for so long I wasn't going to give up. Never again. Kept for reference.
Life of Pi
The Name of the Rose
Don Quixote
Moby Dick
Madame Bovary
The Odyssey Several copies – as, indeed, you can see on LibraryThing. Much loved.
Pride and Prejudice More than one copy. My favourite Austen.
Jane Eyre Well,partly, Loathe.
A Tale of Two Cities
The Brothers Karamazov
Guns, Germs, and Steel A book that changed the way I think.
War and Peace Ought to get my own copy.
Vanity Fair
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Iliad
The Blind Assassin
Zatoichi – I didn't know this was a book! Seen the film, though.
The Kite Runner
Mrs. Dalloway
Great Expectations Read at school. I dislike Dickens in general and this book in particular.
American Gods Like this one.
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
Atlas Shrugged
Reading Lolita in Tehran
Quicksilver (Presumably, as there is no such thing as "Quicksilver Exposition" as shown on the list!)
Wicked To be fair, inamac bought this one. I must get around to reading it.
The Canterbury Tales There may be odd bits of my collected Chaucer I haven't read, just as there may be the odd Shakepearean sonnet...
The Historian
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
Love in the Time of Cholera
Brave New World What else are libraries for?
The Fountainhead.
Foucault's Pendulum My favourite Eco...
Middlemarch I really must get a copy.
The Count of Monte Cristo
A Clockwork Orange But I don't like it.
Anansi Boys Adore this.
The Once and Future King My copy is so worn out that we are now looking around for a new one.
The Grapes of Wrath
The Poisonwood Bible
Angels & Demons
The Inferno Bits. Not enamoured.
The Satanic Verses
Sense and Sensibility
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Mansfield Park
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
To the Lighthouse
Tess of the D’Urbervilles
Oliver Twist Urrrgh.
Gulliver's Travels
Les Misérables
The Corrections
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Dune Must have read ten times.
The Prince Why not? It's short.
The Sound and the Fury
Angela's Ashes
The God of Small Things
A People’s History of the United States
A Confederacy of Dunces
A Short History of Nearly Everything
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Scarlet Letter
Eats, Shoots & Leaves Short, funny, and a grammar Nazi – what's not to like.
The Mists of Avalon Did own. Sort of read. Gave up halfway in when someone appeared with rabbits in Dark Age Britain. The guy I have it to gave up after waiting 300 pages for something to happen. Unlikeable characters, unhistorical, agenda driven nonsense.
Oryx and Crake
Collapse Why is it people buy Diamond and don't read him. Mind you, hard as he tries to be upbeat, this is a depressing book.
Cloud Atlas
The Confusion
Lolita Skipped through as teenager – nicked out of my father's 'porn' drawer.
Northanger Abbey
The Catcher in the Rye l
On the Road
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
The Aeneid I think we have a copy, but it's for reference purposes.
Watership Down I think we don't have a copy. I sort-of liked this. It's The Plague Dogs I loathe. I hate propaganda.
Gravity's Rainbow
The Hobbit
In Cold Blood
White Teeth
Treasure Island Unimaginative people kept buying me this book as a child. I had several copies. I never liked it.
